AITP – Nuturing, Coaching and Making IT Leaders

Creating value for information technology practitioners has been a major goal of the Association of Information Technology Professionals has been the goal since its inception in the late 1940s when the collusion of computers, technology and information were still in its infancy.  It was vital then as it now to have a body of practitioners who  could share, teach and coach the newly minted professionals who embodied the best and brightest of the profession.  The AITP continues in this tradition by offering a series of educational classes encompassing the skills, knowledge and business acumen necessary for success in  a very rapidly changing industry.  As a  loyal supporter of continuous education, I am enrolled in the first of its kind, the Engaging Leadership Series, that is the AITP Learning Institute.

The Case for Micro Grids Energy Storage

For many the term smart grid resonates as they have in their recent experiences may have heard, seen or even own a smart meter – it is simple, your every energy whim, use, and future use will be tracked, analyzed as Big Data does, telling the people controlling and selling the energy how your energy is invested. It is all on a a very large scale often encompassing a large region such as a large city, a county or the coverage territory for a major utility.  Micro Grids like micro breweries allow the smaller operators to create their own energy within their own confines, allowing them to control it on a much smaller scale.  ie. such as a university, a manufacturing site, technology park, or even in your own home.  The concept of distributed generation is a reality in  many parts of the world where small independent organizations can produce, store, and even sell their own energy has hit home for many utilities who in most cases now only own the electric wires that transport the goods.   The growing ability to produce electricity has spawned a vast array of energy storage options as described in the Navigant Report on energy storage options.  For an in-depth review of the latest technologies.  Energy Storage Research

Case for the Electric Auto in 2014

A good read, “Creating the Green Energy Economy” on how Electric Auto industry is evolving into the mainstream.  Where once considered an oddity, a fleeting fancy, the electric automobile sales this year will hit over 2 million units – a far cry from the world consumption of over 40 million gasoline driven units. The new energy economy will result in very pleasant growth from many sectors in as the hegemony creeps into acceptable reality.
